The Texas Longhorns have had a lot of trouble running recently, and word came Thursday that they will be sending their third quarterback to the NFL in as many years.
Jonathan Brooks is expected to opt out of the final year of his contract and take his talents to the NFL, The former four-star started the season as the backup to five-star CJ Baxter, but once he took over, he never looked back. His first season was not buried behind Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson on the depth chart.
Before tearing his ACL against TCU, Brooks rushed for 1,139 yards (6.1 yards per carry) and 10 touchdowns. He also had 25 catches for 286 yards and a touchdown.
While awaiting a decision, Brooks doesn’t want to leave the team as it prepares for the College Football Playoff.
“I don’t want to think about the fact that we’re in the playoffs and I’m focused on doing everything I can to help us win the championship, but we only have two weeks to decide, so it’s what it feels like. .
