Luke Humphries has enjoyed a sensational few years, and banked a healthy amount of prize money along the way.
Peter Wright has insisted that he is aiming to ‘nick Luke Humphries’ pocket money’ as he looks to bounce back from a disappointing run of form.
Snakebite has endured a tricky 12 months, slipping down the PDC Order of Merit to 12th in the rankings after some poor showings.
The Scot’s struggles were underlined even further in his 2024 Premier League Darts campaign, finishing rock-bottom of the table for a second successive year. But Wright is confident of getting back to his best.
Speaking to The Sun, the 54-year-old said: “I’ve won loads of titles. It’s not that I’ve got to win them, it’s that I want to win them just for myself.
I ain’t got to prove a point to anybody. I will be winning majors this year. I’ll be nicking Luke Humphries’ pocket money!”
Humphries has enjoyed a sensational few years in contrast to his rival, pocketing himself a healthy £1.6million over the last two years and asserting himself as the very best in the business with victories all over the world.
Wright did admit that self-doubt has crept into his game as a result of his slump but he’s eager to show despite his age, he still has the ability.
It’s my job to get up there and show why I am here and try and win this title. The quality of darts all around the world is just getting better and better. I usually look at the draw to see who I’ve got next. That stung me in the backside at the Matchplay.
I looked too far ahead to see how I’d win it. Now I just look at the player who is in front of me. My target now is just to win titles and this old guy to upset all the youngsters! I can win games again which makes me a pretty dangerous wildcard in any tournament now.”
