Deion Sanders Reacts To Son Shilo’s Ejection For Brutal Hit vs UCLA

With just under three-and-a-half minutes to go in the second quarter of a tight game between UCLA and Colorado, UCLA running back Carsen Ryan ran a slant route, caught the ball and was immediately popped by Colorado safety Shilo Sanders.

As Sanders celebrated his big hit, a yellow piece of laundry flew in the air and the senior was called for targeting, meaning he would be ejected from the game.

Ryan limped off the field after taking a shot to the facemask from the crown of Sanders’ helmet. Replay confirmed the penalty, and Sanders was out for the remainder of the game.

UCLA went on to win 28-16, improving to 6-2 while Colorado fell to 4-4 as their chances of making a bowl game continue to dwindle.

After the game, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders — and Shilo’s father — gave his opinion on the play.

If you keep it low, it’s just no question. I believe he’s not in fault because he turned his shoulder all the way. He always does, he knows how to hit,” Sanders said. “I told him I was proud of him because he was having a heck of a game. he was being dominant on the defensive side of the ball. I’m sorry this transpired but I’m proud of his effort.”
