Brilliant Bryson DeChambeau makes kid’s day as LIV Golf star cuts ball ‘thief’ down to size at Valhalla

The 30-year-old superstar has been labelled ‘man of the people’ after touching act at the PGA Championship.

Bryson DeChambeu might not have claimed the PGA Championship trophy but he sure won over more golf fans at Valhalla.

The LIV Golf star is becoming increasingly popular thanks to his YouTube channel and TikTok channels that between them have more than one million followers who follow his tips on the sport and life in general. And his latest video – one for once not filmed by the American superstar – again shows what a decent sort he is.

Approaching the 10th tee on the final day of the second Major of the season, DeChambeau threw his ball to a young boy who was cheering him on as the 30-year-old attempted to win the title. But an older man intercepted the gift – which enraged the golfer. DeChambeau hollered “hey, hey, hey” at the spectator before pointing his putter at the guilty party. As the man tried to slink away, the LIV man roared, “give that ball back”.

Eventually, the miscreant returned the ball to the delighted young fan. Another spectator roared his appreciation “man of the people” before DeChambeau headed on to the tee to continue his assault on Valhalla. He just missed out on glory, too, as his final total of -20 was just one worse off than eventual winner Xander Schauffele.

Speaking about how his YouTube channel has changed the public’s perception of him, DeChambeau said: “Yeah, it’s actually funny. YouTube has helped me understand that a little bit more. When the moment comes, knowing what to do, what to say, how to act is really important.

“You know, when I was younger I didn’t understand what it was. Yeah, I would have great celebrations and whatnot, but I didn’t know what it meant and what I was doing it necessarily for. Now I’m doing it a lot more for the fans and for the people around and trying to be a bit of an entertainer that plays good golf every once in a while.”
