The 42-year-old has suffered illness in the past while using a Formula One simulator and has encountered another bout of problems using Mercedes GP’s facility in Brackley, England, near the Silverstone Grand Prix track.
“During his career, Michael has occasionally been susceptible to illness while using the simulator, which impairs the time he can spend using it,” said a Mercedes spokesman.
“It happens to people who frequently use simulators for work reasons: in aviation, in the military or in racing.
“Michael is not at a disadvantage, because he has arranged his time effectively with our engineers.”
Schumacher is not alone in suffering from nausea when in a simulator, which can affect an individual’s sense of balance as the brain has to process lots of information without the corresponding gravity pull.
Having retired at the end of the 2006 Formula One season, Germany’s Schumacher returned to Grand Prix racing at the start of 2010 when he signed a three-year contract.
He finished ninth in the world drivers’ championship behind winner and compatriot Sebastian Vettel, of Red Bull Racing
