Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy fully understands the reasons behind his impressive 23-1 record as a starter.

Having defeated Ohio State twice, JJ McCarthy has the winning formula against Michigan’s biggest rival. Regrettably, individuals who are not fans of Michigan and those who dislike the team believe that the victories over OSU in 2021 and 2022 were solely the result of Michigan’s sign stealing tactics. It seems clear that McCarthy doesn’t view it in the same way.
I wholeheartedly believe that we have put in the most effort out of any team in the country – every single player and coach. Looking at headlines and following a narrative has become incredibly simple. Once inside, witnessing the scene, it becomes clear that the only things at play are hard work, commitment, and accomplishment.
Despite the outside noise from non-Michigan individuals, McCarthy takes comfort in the support he and his teammates have received from former Michigan players and alumni. They may not have started blowing up his phone yet, but he knows that guys like Tom Brady, Desmond Howard, and Charles Woodson are out there sending positive energy his way.
They are aware that this team is dedicated to continuous improvement and consistently making the right choices. The messages could arrive the night before the game, serving as a little motivation to get our heads in the right space. They are well aware of our game plan. They definitely trust us, that’s for sure.

We are deeply grateful for the support of our Michigan alumni, and their encouragement motivates us to give our best effort each and every day for them.
Every day brings new updates, with a staff member and a coach getting fired, Jim Harbaugh being suspended, and a well-known story being associated with the team. McCarthy paused for a moment before sharing what the experience has been like for the starting quarterback.
McCarthy expressed disappointment that all the hard work and dedication put into the season was overshadowed by a scandal. We can’t control it, so we only concentrate on what we can control and strive to improve every day without worrying about the rest. It’s a shame that people don’t recognize the effort we put in to reach our current position.
