USC Legend Reggie Bush Expects Deion Sanders to Leave Colorado for NFL Sooner Rather Than Later

In his first season coaching a Power 5 program, former NFL legend Deion Sanders is redefining what it means to coach in the new era of relaxed transfer portal rules and an open Name, Image, and Likeness market.

While Colorado has had an up-and-down season, they have already exceeded expectations set in the preseason. Bookmakers set the team’s total wins over/under at 3.5, and the Buffaloes made a statement in their opening game against then-No. 17 ranked TCU.

The Buffaloes have won four games and quarterback Shedeur Sanders, Prime’s son, has shown that he is a future first-rounder whenever he decides to enter the 2023 NFL Draft.

Former USC great Reggie Bush had high praise for Sanders’ ability to take the magic he had made at Jackson State into the Pac-12.

“In my opinion, Deion Sanders is one of the best coaches in football right now. NFL, college, I don’t care, he’s one of the best coaches,” Bush told BleacherReport.

In fact, Bush thinks that Sanders is a strong enough coach to make the jump to the NFL, and thinks that it’s only a matter of time before teams come calling.

“I have a feeling the NFL is going to come knocking on the door and I think that’s his rightful place is in the NFL,” Bush said. “Once his sons are gone, because I think what he’s doing with his sons is history. When’s the last time we’ve seen a head coach and the son is the star quarterback of the team? The script is writing itself.”

Bush also revealed that his own script as a member of a football team might not be completely written. As a former Heisman winner, Bush could see himself following Sanders’ footsteps and giving coaching a try.

“I might someday want to coach, I’ve been inspired by Prime and what he’s done at Colorado,” Bush said.
