The Seattle Mariners claimed Kaleb Ort off waivers from the Boston Red Sox on Friday.
Β Β The Mariners designated catcher Brian O’Keefe for assignment to make room on their 40-man roster. Ort, 31, went 1-2 with a 6.26 ERA in 21 games (two starts) for the Red Sox in 2023.
Β Β He is 2-4 with one save and a 6.27 ERA in 47 games (two starts) over three seasons in Boston. O’Keefe, 30, made his MLB debut with Seattle in 2022.
Β Β He hit .105 with two RBIs in eight games this season.
