Stroll retired after a massive 110mph drift in qualifying on Saturday when the Canadian crashed into the guard rail with his left front wheel removed.
In response to a question from his race engineer Ben Michell, Stroll, 24, stated that he was “fine” but sat in the cockpit for some time facing the wrong way until he was rescued by a medical car. He was cleared for Sunday’s race but was ruled out.
Hours before the start of the Grand Prix, Aston Martin released a statement saying: “Following Lance’s crash in qualifying for the Singapore GP, it has been mutually agreed by Lance and Aston Martin that he will not take part in the Singapore GP tonight.
