The 18-year-old Dutch driver lost his life on Saturday morning during a race
The world of motor racing has a dark cloud over it on Saturday, as driver Dilano van ‘t Hoff died on Saturday morning after a serious accident at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, where the FRECA race was taking place.
The incident occurred during the closing stages of the second race. Adam Fitzgerald, Joshua Dufek and Enzo Scionti were also involved.
It all happened at the entrance of the Kemmel straight, where there was very little visibility due to the water on the track.
Van ‘t Hoff was left in the middle of the track and Fitzgerald crashed into him, a nasty T-shaped collision.
The race was immediately suspended and the drivers were treated by the medical team on the track.
Both Van ‘t Hoff and Fitzgerald were taken to the circuit’s medical centre, where the worst news was confirmed. Van ‘t Hoff had passed away from his injuries.
It is the same area of the same track that F2 driver Anthoine Hubert crashed at and died in 2019. Formula 1 driver Lando Norris has also had a very serious crash there in the wet but he was able to walk away.
