Tiger Woods is still in the hunt for the 2024 Masters after making the cut on Friday, finishing the second round with a score of 1-over par.

Along with securing his spot in this weekend’s actions, Woods’ performance also saw him break a record.

He entered this week level with Fred Couples and Gary Player for the most consecutive cuts at the Masters at 23. However, he now stands alone at 24 after making the cut at the Augusta National.

Woods jokes about claiming another record

After finishing the second round, a reporter asked Woods: “Even though you don’t play for cuts, never have, is there some appreciation for having that record?”

Woods was clearly in a good mood following his performance, joking about what he’ll do.

“Yeah,” Woods responded. “As soon as I’m done with you guys, I’ll text Freddie and give him a little needle.”

Woods still believes

Woods made his 24th consecutive cut at Augusta National by going 73-72 in the first two rounds. His score of 1-over means he’ll start Saturday T22.

Although he’s seven shots back of the leaders, Woods says he’s put himself in with a chance.

“I’m still right there in the ball game with a good chance going into the weekend,” said Woods.

Along with a stellar weekend of golf, Woods will need the leaders to slow down a well. The trio of Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau and Max Homa currently lead the way at 6-under.

DeChambeau had a chance to build on his stellar score of 67 in the opening round, but the wind didn’t help his cause of Friday. As a result he finished with a 73, allowing Homa to gain two strokes with his 71. As for Scheffler, he finished even on Friday.

Their performances are in line with how the rest of the field performed, as the lowest score on Friday was Ludvig Aberg’s 69.

His performance was all the more performance when you consider he was the only player to break 70 on the day.
