Michigan football is starting to get some momentum on the recruiting trail. But soon enough, the Wolverines need to turn that momentum into something tangible, like a commitment.
The Wolverines haven’t landed one of those since right after the Rose Bowl. It didn’t help that Michigan football lost head coach Jim Harbaugh to the NFL. Sherrone Moore was hired quickly but a huge chunk of the coaching staff followed Harbaugh to the Chargers, making Moore’s task even more difficult.
Sherrone has expanded Michigan’s recruiting operation. He hired Sean Magee to be the general manager and the Wolverines are getting a lot of highly-ranked recruits on campus. But now they need to start moving the needle toward commitments and this weekend could be the perfect opportunity for that.
Could Michigan football commitment drought end this weekend?
The Wolverines have four-star wideout Taz Williams visiting this weekend and Michigan football has been trending as the favorite. Chad Simmons of On3.com projected Williams, a wideout from Texas to commit to the Wolverines. This weekend provides a good chance to close for the coaching staff.
Williams is ranked No. 284 overall in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry rankings. He also has a 66 percent chance to commit to Michigan after the recent expert prediction from Simmons. That’s the only expert prediction right now for a wideout who caught 80 passes for 1,251 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2023.
