Why Christian Horner will leave Red Bull after Friday final questioning, as Lewis Hamilton issued ban at Mercedes

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner will be questioned on Friday as part of an independent investigation into allegations of inappropriate and controlling behaviour made against the Brit. Horner has denied the claims, made against him by a Red Bull employee.

No timeline has been set for the investigation to conclude but we will be keeping you up to date with this story as it develops.

Elsewhere, Mercedes continue their search for Lewis Hamilton’s replacement. Carlos Sainz Jr, Alex Albon, Esteban Ocon, Lando Norris and Frederik Vesti have been linked as potential successors in 2025, however, there is no clear frontrunner at this stage.

Newey determined to stay at Red Bull

Adrian Newey is willing to stay at Red Bull regardless of whether or not Christian Horner is removed from his role as team principal.

That’s according to F1-Insider, who are reporting that Newey has already informed the team of his loyalty to them.

The 65-year-old, who is arguably the greatest technical mastermind in F1 history, has played a leading role in designing Red Bull’s cars since joining in 2006.

Russell and Norris mocked by fans

George Russell and Lando Norris have been mocked by fans on social media after starring in a bizarre video to announce Silverstone’s new 10-year deal.

The duo were ridiculed for their questionable acting skills, with @saralikeclara posting on X: “Is it too late for an Oscar nomination? I think they’d make an exception for this.”

@filmmadfinn sarcastically quipped: “Academy Award winning,” while @RandoIE said: “Oscar worthy performances.”

Horner interview moved to ‘secret location’

Christian Horner will be grilled by a top independent lawyer at a hearing on Friday, which has reportedly been moved to a secret location.

According to The Times, the hearing was initially set to take place at Red Bull’s headquarters in Milton Keynes but has since been moved elsewhere.

The widespread media interest in the saga, amplified by the fact that Horner’s wife Geri is a former Spice Girl, is thought to have forced Red Bull to ditch their original plan.

Leclerc determined to win titles at Ferrari

Charles Leclerc has insisted that winning titles at Ferrari is his ‘only target’ in a thinly-veiled warning to future team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

The Mercedes ace will join Ferrari next year in a bid to claim a record-breaking eighth title but Leclerc seems determined to spoil the 38-year-old’s dreams.

Speaking for the first time since Hamilton’s impending move to Ferrari was confirmed last week, Leclerc said: “To win the championship, this is the only target I have.

“I’m only happy when I win, second place is not my target.”

Coulthard issues call for calm

David Coulthard believes that some observers have overreacted to the news of Christian Horner facing a Red Bull investigation over allegations of ‘inappropriate behaviour’.

Speaking on the Formula for Success podcast, Coulthard said: “I’ve seen all sorts of overreaction on social media.

“You know, people calling for Christian to resign, and for him to be suspended, all of these sorts of things.

“But, as always, everybody deserves their moment to be able to explain their position. I believe that will be happening on Friday in Christian’s case.

“I don’t know about the other party involved. So, maybe by next week, we’ll have some clarity on that particular situation.”

Horner ‘shocked and disturbed’ by investigation

Christian Horner has reportedly been left ‘shocked and disturbed’ by the ongoing investigation into his behaviour by Red Bull’s parent company in Austria.

According to The Guardian, his closest allies view it as an ‘attack’ on his authority, with one source describing it as an attempt to ‘clip his wings or remove him from the job altogether’.

The report adds that Horner’s supporters believe the inappropriate and controlling behaviour referred to in the investigation was not aggressive in nature, nor do they believe it amounted to bullying.

They also feel that perception of Horner’s actions will be crucial to making his case when he is questioned by a top lawyer at a hearing on Friday.
