Who is Coach Prime? A look inside Colorado Head Coach Deion Sanders
EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon football is unbeaten through the first three weeks of the season. The Ducks have a huge matchup Saturday afternoon hosting the team everyone is talking about – the Colorado Buffaloes.
Deion Sanders, aka “Coach Prime,” has turned Colorado football into must watch television, and that goes beyond your diehard football fan.
Last Sunday’s episode of 60 Minutes featured two main interviews: one was with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the other was with Deion Sanders.
Many wondered if what Coach Prime was able to do at FCS level Jackson State would transfer over the Pac-12, and through three weeks the answer has been yes.
Everyone seems to have an opinion about Sanders. Some call his personality arrogant and self-centered. CBS Sports Colorado sports anchor Romi Bean is the host of “Coach Prime’s Playbook” and says those misconceptions about Prime couldn’t be further from the truth.
“He cares so deeply about his players, about helping them become better men. I think that people see him and they see all of the excitement and the hype, and they don’t think, ‘Oh this is a guy who actually cares about people around him,’ and he absolutely does. He takes an interest in everybody and I feel like getting to know him a little bit better and the person that he is. It’s been such a privilege.”
The Buffaloes landed in Eugene around 4 p.m. Friday.
At last check, Oregon remains a 21-point favorite against Colorado on Saturday. However, the oddsmakers have been wrong about the Buffaloes the last three weeks.
