Vikings’ Wednesday Injury Report Has T.J. Hockenson as Estimated DNP

Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson got banged up multiple times during his 11-catch, 86-yard performance against the 49ers on Monday Night Football. When asked after the game what he was dealing with physically, he said “a lot” before adding that he’ll be alright.

There was no indication from either Hockenson or head coach Kevin O’Connell on Wednesday that he’s in danger of missing Sunday’s game against the Packers, but he was listed as an estimated DNP (foot) on the first injury report of the week. It’s an estimation because the Vikings only held a walk-through, coming off the game Monday. How much Hockenson is able to practice on Thursday and Friday will be more telling

How much Hockenson is able to practice on Thursday and Friday will be more telling.

Through seven games, Hockenson ranks second behind only Travis Kelce in receptions and yards among tight ends. He’s got 47 catches on 59 targets for 390 yards and two touchdowns, putting him on pace for 114 catches and 947 yards if he plays a full 17 games. There’s been even more out there for him this year, too, as he’s been unable to come down with a few difficult contested catch opportunities. Both as a blocker and receiver, Hockenson is a massive part of the Vikings’ offensive plan, especially without Justin Jefferson.

If Hockenson were to ever miss time, Josh Oliver and Johnny Mundt would have expanded roles.

LB Brian Asamoah II, who mostly plays on special teams, was also an estimated DNP on Wednesday’s report with an ankle injury. LG Ezra Cleveland (foot) and WR Jalen Nailor (hamstring) were estimated as limited.

For the Packers, three starters — RB Aaron Jones, TE Luke Musgrave, and C Josh Myers — didn’t practice on Wednesday. Five more players, including CB Jaire Alexander, were limited.
