Verstappen reveals one concern after dominant Suzuka race wins Red Bull title Max Verstappen’s win is Red Bull’s 13th of the year and sixth.
Max Verstappen expressed mild concern after the dominant drive at the Japanese GP that handed Red Bull the 2023 championship. From pole position, Verstappen was largely untroubled at Suzuka, taking his 13th win of the season to lift him to the crown from third party drivers.
But it was enough to secure Red Bull’s sixth constructors’ championship – retaining the title it won in 2022 after six rounds. It wasn’t all plain sailing as the world champion had a problem at the start which almost let Lando Norris take the lead.
“It was an incredible weekend and it’s great to win here,” Verstappen said. “The car worked really well with all the combinations, but the most important thing was the victory for the constructors.” I’m very proud of everyone on the track, but also back at the factory.
“We’re having a great year and I’m very proud of everyone. “I probably had a bit too much wheel at the start, but after that it was a pretty straight race.
