A brilliant old-school video of a fresh-faced Rory McIlroy and Tony Finau has gone viral on social media ahead of them meeting in the third round at the US Open.
McIlroy and Finau, who are out together in the third round of the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst No.2 on Saturday, have been good friends since their junior golf days.
Ahead of the third round, an unseen video surfaced on social media of McIlroy and Finau both talking about their friendship when they were 10 years old.
As we join the hilarious video, we hear McIlroy talk about how he enjoys spending time with Finau’s family
Finau then adds how he went to give McIlroy a hug when he realised they had been paired together in one of their tournaments.
Fast forward some 25 years and Finau and McIlroy are now meeting again in the third round of the 2024 US Open.
McIlroy and Finau are out together in the third last match of the day at 3.13pm local time on Saturday. Finau and McIlroy are both at 3-under par and just two shots off the pace heading into the third round
Finau and Aberg are looking to land their maiden major titles, while four-time major champion McIlroy is hoping to end 10 years of hurt in the majors
