LOS ANGELES Major League Baseball has opened an investigation into Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio Urías after he was arrested Sunday for battery on a spouse or common-law partner.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Maria Lucero confirmed the criminal charges on Tuesday.
The arresting agency, the Ministry of Public Security, has not yet released details of the arrest.
Urías did not travel with the Dodgers to Miami, where they open a three-game series against the Marlins on Tuesday night. He was due to make his next start on Thursday. “It’s day-to-day for us right now,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said before the game.
“I don’t like to get too ahead of things. Once you’ve spent time with certain things, you learn that simplifying day by day is the best way to deal with it.”
