Max Verstappen has admitted he believes the era of Red Bull F1 dominance is in jeopardy as the rest of the grid catches up to the reigning champion of constructors. .
From 2021, Verstappen and Red Bull have an unrivaled presence in F1. Although this season has been closer, the Dutchman is still 84 points away from the drivers’ standings en route to a fourth consecutive championship.
Meanwhile, Red Bull are 71 points ahead of second-placed McLaren in the manufacturers’ championship, despite Sergio Perez failing to finish in the top three since April.
After 12 Grand Prix competitions, however, six different races have been won so far. During the 2023 season, only Sergio Perez (Baku, Jeddah) and Carlos Sainz (Singapore) prevented Verstappen from taking a clean sweep.

Mercedes enters this weekend’s Hungarian GP having won the last two races and Verstappen is all too aware that the walls could to be close to an era of Red Bull dominance. “We’ve had great years,” said the three-time F1 champion at the Goodwood Festival of Speed ”Obviously this year started off really competitive and now it’s all kind of caught up. Every race is also a real battle, so that’s great.
“I think [the theme] will continue for the rest of the season, so it it’s really unknown what’s going to happen and it’s great for the sport.“
