The Trump Organization has sold its rights to operate a public golf course, city officials have confirmed, handing over control of the public property to a company that plans to build a New York casino.

Bally’s Corporation, a gaming and entertainment company, will take over the 18-hole course known as Trump Golf Links Ferry Point, according to a spokeswoman for the city supervisor.

Terms of the lease transfer were not immediately available. The deal appeared to mark the end of the city’s struggle to shed ties to the former president, whose bold name has greeted drivers crossing the road’s Whitestone Bridge for years.

That sign, the New York Times reports, is expected to be removed. On January 6, 2021, after the attack on the US Capitol, then-Mayor Bill de Blasio said he would cancel the contract with the Trump Organization, arguing that Trump’s incitement to riots gave the city legal authority to do so.

A state judge rejected that argument last year, a ruling that would allow the Trump Organization to pursue that course when its lease expires in 2035.
