Do the Phillies want to reconnect with their starting pitcher?
With the Phillies still looking for a pitcher, a reunion with one of their former starters is possible.

PHILADELPHIA Phillies
On paper, the Philly Phillies will have a five-man rotation for 2024. President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombowski said he is comfortable with the team.
But that didn’t stop the head office from looking at other options.
They have been aggressively pursuing Yoshinobu Yamamoto, offering him a very competitive contract, and have been linked to Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery all winter.
It seems unlikely the Phillies will offer the kind of contracts they’re looking for, but manager Rob Thomson said he wants more starting options before the season ends.
With Philadelphia entering 2024 paying the highest salary in team history, they may be looking for a cornerback to fill that need.
Michael Lorenzen is an exception.
The Phillies acquired him in a trade with the Detroit Tigers, and he continued to be productive, pitching his 14th no-hitter with the team against the Washington Nationals in his first home start.
However, Lorenzen later went down and finished his Philly career with a 5.51 ERA in 11 games and 7 starts. Eventually, the starting pitcher was moved to the bullpen and will only appear in two games in the 2023 playoffs. The
righty expressed his desire to be the starting pitcher going forward, and has been looking for that opportunity with his next team ever since. Access to free agency.
At the time, it looked like the Phillies had no competition.
They have turnover, so they can’t promise Lorenzen a full-time position. But Thompson wants more options in his rotation, and with only one starting pitcher in the channel capable of making the jump, a rally is likely to come.
Lorenzen has settled into the clubhouse upon his arrival, and may make a good return on the links as his market is not as strong as expected.
Your point of view caught my eye and was very interesting. Thanks. I have a question for you.
