Fresh off yet another dazzling Olympics, Simone Biles is a woman in demand. In fact, the gymnast is so in demand she may have to miss cheering on her NFL husband this season.
Simone Biles reveals why she WON’T attend as many of husband Jonathan Owens’ Chicago Bears games – after NFL wardrobe blunder controversy
The 27-year-old, the Olympic all-around champion from the Paris Games, added another three gold and a silver to her glittering medal collection in the French capital this summer.
But with medals comes obligation, and Biles revealed she will have to make some sacrifices as she basks in the golden glow of her victories.
Biles, who married Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens in 2023, revealed to her adoring fans that she will not be able to attend as many of her husband’s NFL games this season.
Just over two weeks until the 2024 season kicks off, the gymnastic icon admitted in a TikTok video that she will be too busy to cheer on her beau at Soldier Field and on the road this year due to her post-Olympic duties.
I don’t know how many games I’ll be able to make because in a few weeks we go on tour, and if you guys aren’t aware, it’s the Gold Over America tour. I think right now we’re doing about 32 stops,’ Biles said.
The tour, a traveling gymnastics exhibition which will feature a host of gymnastic stars including Biles and her gold-medal-winning USA teammates, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles and Hezly Rivera, will kick off on September 16 in Oceanside, California.
It will make 30 stops across the United States, finishing in Detroit on November 3, which coincides with Week 9 of the NFL schedule – the midpoint of the regular season.
However, Biles may be able to catch the Bears’ season opener against the Tennessee Titans on September 8 as well as the second half of the calendar and the postseason if Chicago secures a playoff spot.
Fresh off her triumph in Paris, it was Biles’ turn to take up the cheerleading duties in her marriage at the weekend after Owens supported her from the stands at the Bercy Arena.
Biles attended the Bears’ preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Soldier Field Saturday afternoon but the Olympian committed a fashion – and football – faux pas.
She showed out in support of Owens, wearing a custom jacket with black-and-white printed images of him on it.
However, the Olympic legend made an NFL rookie error as the various snaps featured Owens in action for the Green Bay Packers – the Bears’ longstanding fierce rivals and his former team.
In addition to the photos of Owens suited up in Packers uniform, a large Green Bay logo on the shoulder pad had stood out in certain snaps and videos.
Her attempts to make a touching and supportive gesture towards Owens , landed Biles in the middle of one of the league’s fiercest rivalries and fans were far from impressed with one even claiming she should be ‘stripped of all her medals’ for her fashion fumble.
Owens played one season in Green Bay last year before making the move down Lake Michigan to Chicago earlier this year, and Biles was seen regularly rooting for him at Packers’ games last season.
