Japanese actress Miho Nakayama, who found fame after starring in the 1995 movie Love Letter, has been found dead in the bathtub at her home in Tokyo according to reports

A Japanese actress has been found dead in the bathtub at her home in Tokyo.
Miho Nakayama, 54, was best known for starring in the 1995 movie Love Letter, a film which garnered international acclaim and earned her several best actress awards. Miho was also a successful singer at the height of J-pop’s influence in the 1980s and 90s. She quickly became one of Japan’s most popular teen idols during this time.
When Miho failed to show up to work on Friday, a member of her team went to Ms Nakayama’s home to check up on her, but tragically, she was found unresponsive when her co-worker arrived at the residence.
Miho’s team member immediately called the emergency services, but sadly, upon arrival, there was nothing they could do to save the star. Her death was confirmed at the scene and it is now being investigated by police.
The actress was set to perform at a Christmas show in Osaka today. However, the event was cancelled a number of days before her death as she reportedly told organisers that she was in poor health.
A statement published by her agency to her website confirmed her sad death. The statement read: “We are stunned by the sudden occurrence of this event.” It also confirmed that her cause of death has not yet been revealed.
