Chelsea’s new signing Lesley Ugochukwu has vowed to fight for his place at the club.
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is hoping to give new signing midfielder Ugochukwu more playing time this month.
The former Rennes player, who only joined the Blues this summer, has only just got his first taste of English football.
Ugochukwu is likely to play in midfield alongside Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.
In an interview with Le Parisien, he admitted that he is not afraid of Chelsea’s competition. He said: “It’s the same everywhere, in every team, you’re not sure about playing. When I arrived at Chelsea, I knew where I was going. Your job is to prove yourself, to show that you deserve your place.
“Personally, I have never been afraid of competition. I will learn from very good players like Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo or Romeo Lavia, who are the same age as me. My job is to go and get as many minutes as possible.
– The learning I get every day and at the weekend at Chelsea gives me the opportunity to strengthen myself and mature in my game. Of course, you have to play when you’re young, but there are trains that don’t run twice.”
