REPORT: Mercedes make double Red Bull swoop as Lewis Hamilton faced with money problem
Major changes are expected on the F1 grid at the end of the season, and speculation continues to circulate about where Max Verstappen’s future lies. The Dutchman has grown frustrated at Red Bull in recent months, and Mercedes are reportedly keen to thrash out a potential contract with the world No. 1 after the Miami Grand Prix.
The Christian Horner saga has been a cause of frustration within the Verstappen camp, and the prospect of the driver walking away from Red Bull is no longer a far-fetched idea. Mercedes are among those to be keen to acquire his services, with Lewis Hamilton leaving the team for Ferrari in 2025.
With Adrian Newey also being linked with a Red Bull exit, a mass exodus could be firmly on the cards as Verstappen could push his suitors to sign advisor Helmut Marko as well given that he has worked closely with the Austrian for a number of years.
Newey is not short of interest across the grid after it emerged that he could be on the move, though a clause in his contract could hold him back, it is claimed.
