Keegan Bradley revealed on Tuesday that Phil Mickelson will not be playing for Team USA at the 2025 Ryder Cup, and now the LIV Golf star has had his say on the matter.
Phil Mickelson gave a glowing account of the appointment of Keegan Bradley as Team USA’s 2025 Ryder Cup captain despite saying he would not attend the event.
Bradley has been named by the PGA of America as the man to lead the Americans against their European rivals at Bethpage Black next September. A day later, the 38-year-old took on his first role as captain, addressing the media and announcing his appointment at a press conference in New York.
During the presentation, Bradley revealed that although he still has a strong relationship with his ex-partner Mickelson, he has no plans to bring him into the team as vice-captain for next year’s event.
“I still have a great relationship with Phil,” Bradley said. “I don’t think he’s interested in being vice-captain and frankly, I don’t think he’ll ever be captain. But I haven’t spoken to Phil, I don’t want to speak for him anyway, but I think he’s busy enough doing that, what is he doing.
A day later, Mickelson himself responded and had nothing but good things to say about Bradley. , describes the captain-elect as “unbelievable” and I think it’s a great choice the more I think about it, Mickelson said ahead of this week’s LIV Golf event at Valderrama. He played a lot of golf at Bethpage when he was at St. John’s. His passion for the Ryder Cup is more than any player I’ve ever seen. His love for the Ryder Cup is greater than anyone else I know. I think he leads with such passion. I think she is amazing.
