NFL Draft 2024: Buffalo Bills holding private workout with speedy 1st round
WR target Free agency is in full swing, but that doesn’t mean that the Buffalo Bills aren’t also focused on the 2024 NFL Draft.
With 11 picks at their disposal, Buffalo will look to address several needs on both sides of the ball. One of those needs includes wide receiver. Despite signing Curtis Samuel and Mack Hollins during the first wave of free agency, the Bills are likely likely for a true No. 2 receiver that could eventually take Stefon Diggs’ spot as the team’s top receiver.Plenty of receivers are expected to fly off the board before Buffalo gets on the draft clock, but one prospect who is expected to be available is Oregon Ducks wide receiver Troy Franklin. Franklin, known for his blazing speed and big play ability, is coming off of a season in which he caught 81 passes for 1,383 yards and 14 touchdowns.
After an impressive season, Buffalo is taking a look at what Franklin can do. According to Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda, the Bills will be holding a private workout with Franklin.
Here is what Pauline wrote about Franklin:
There were plenty of storylines from Oregon pro day, which was televised earlier this week, and receiver Troy Franklin was one of the better ones. As I posted on Twitter, Franklin was sick during the Combine and weighed in at eight pounds heavier (176 versus 183) on pro day. He then looked exceptional catching the ball in position drills and impressed a lot of scouts.
The Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets and New England Patriots met with Franklin the day before the workout. The receiver presently has four official 30 visits as well as a private workout scheduled with the Buffalo Bills. Franklin is knocking on the door of round one.
Buffalo has shown previous interest in Franklin. At the combine, the Bills held a formal interview with the receiver. For Franklin, it was a chance to catch up with Joe Brady. Buffalo’s offensive coordinator had previously attempted to recruit Franklin to LSU during his time with the Tigers.
In Buffalo, Franklin would not be rushed onto the field, but his ability to generate yards after the catch and stretch the field would make him an asset as a rookie
