MLB News: Insider Hints at Big Trade to Send Juan Soto to Yankees
San D iego Padres star outfielder Juan Soto became one of the biggest storylines of baseball’s early offseason.
The team is reportedly considering a move this winter, which marks the final year of his contract.
Bleacher Report MLB writer Kelly Miller has put together several trade packages for Soto that include the Yankees.
New York was cited as the best landing spot for the star outfielder.
This was a package for San Diego to get back some solid prospects and a quality starter in Cortez as part of the deal.
Cortez remains under team control for two more years, and the Padres could factor that into the equation.
The Padres could use this prospect to sign another MLB player, or they could add him to their farm system in hopes of landing another superstar.
They will have a lot of options after trading Soto.
The New York Yankees are one of the most talked about teams regarding a potential Soto trade, and when there’s so much smoke there’s usually fire.
New York needs a left-handed power bat and could use another star from the Bronx.
Soto would fit perfectly into their lineup and be one of the best players in the game.
Acquiring Soto along with Aaron Judge would make the Yankees a scary team again.
The Yankees, who missed the postseason last year, need to make a big splash this offseason.
And acquiring Soto would be one of the biggest things they could do.
He will quickly become a fan favorite, and the team has the financial ability to keep him long-term.
If the Flyers decide to move their star player, a move to New York seems most likely at this point.
There’s always a chance they keep him early in the season, but then there’s the risk that he gets injured or slumps, causing his trade value to plummet.
