FRISCO – Former Dallas Cowboys starting offensive lineman Connor Williams is calling it quits … though he is just 27 years old.
Williams, who now plays for the Seattle Seahawks – for whom he’s been this year’s starting center – has rather shockingly officially decided to retire immediately due to personal reasons, according to Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald.
Williams, a second-round pick by the Cowboys in the 2018 NFL Draft, had started all nine games at center for Seattle this season. Macdonald suggested he does not think Williams will change his mind and return to the club.

Williams, a native of Coppell and a star at the University of Texas, spent four seasons with the Cowboys organization while serving as the starting left guard. In 2022 he signed with the Miami Dolphins and worked diligently to make the smooth transition to starting center. But he suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 14 last season, which caused a great deal of speculation that he might retire as a result.
But instead, he rehabbed and then signed a one-year deal with Seattle in August.
The Seahawks will now turn that job over to Olu Oluwatimi, a fifth-round pick by Seattle in 2023, as he will get his second career start at center on Sunday against the 49ers
