Andrew Shovlin, Mercedes design director, hopes the team’s form will improve at the upcoming Singapore GP.
The team has not finished on the podium since the British GP, with both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell penalized at the last race at Monza.
Although they had the speed to claim a podium at the high-pressure Zandvoort circuit, the team struggled to pull away when the opening lap in heavy rain seriously jeopardized their race.
Shovlin expects a repeat of this form in the next race around the Marina Bay circuit:
There is reason to believe that the car will work better and that is because Singapore is a circuit with maximum downforce”, he explained to the media.
“Our performance at high-pressure tracks like Barcelona, Budapest and even Zandvoort worked well and we had some pretty strong performances.
“Hopefully we can be a bit quicker there and get back into a position where we can challenge for the podium.”
