Logan Jordan needed just one hit to silence South Carolina’s Founders Park.
The Georgia baseball pitcher hit the first hit against the UGA blue behind left field and hit a home run in a 14-6 victory.
Jordan broke a 6-6 tie and gave the Bulldogs their first lead after the third set. Georgia coach Wes Johnson decided to replace Jordan with starting third baseman Dylan Goldstein, who went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts. The first-year manager needs a veteran who can handle the bases loaded, two pitches and a slow heart.
“I saw him working hard every morning in the gym. He’s working hard and biding his time,” Johnson said. “Golly what a great bat he is, (but) I’m not surprised
Jordan, a Campbell grad, found himself the exact replacement. The right-hander hit two home runs against South Carolina last year and returned to the plate looking good.
Jordan hit a 387-foot two-seam fastball down the middle of the plate, no doubt. The veteran was stunned as he wandered the bases as the Bulldog bullpen erupted.
The home run was Jordan’s fourth of the season and first since February 25th. Georgia has won eight straight games, extending its season-long streak to 11 games.
“We made a mistake early in the game and let it go, but I always told them, ‘Don’t hit the panic button,'” Johnson said the offense likes to put a lot of pressure on people when we throw the ball we don’t lose.”

The Bulldogs added four more runs in the top of the ninth. After Tre Phelps scored on a throwing error, Corey Collins hit a three-run homer to tie the game.
