Lewis Hamilton has reason to continue his F1 career Lewis Hamilton says he has four reasons not to quit Formula One as he looks to end his career unbeaten run.
Before 2022, Hamilton had never completed an F1 season without winning at least one race. It is now more than two years without a win and as he approaches his 39th birthday, the seven-time world champion may be running out of time to add to his record 103. He has at least two more seasons to do that. Hamilton extended his contract with Mercedes until the end of 2025, just after his 41st birthday.
Whether this will be his last F1 contract remains to be seen. But despite his age and the difficulties facing the team – Red Bull have dominated the past two seasons and have a significant advantage in car performance – Hamilton insists he still has the will to fight for success. When asked what his motives were, he gave reporters four reasons. He said: The dream is to stand on the top step and see your team. One of the most amazing things is to look back, see the national flag rise behind you and see the team.
I remember the first win I got with this team [in Hungary in 2013]. I have a special picture from 2015 in Australia where [the team] were in tears – it was amazing to be a part of. and Its power is a big part of the appeal. Winning a world title is a big part of the ride. We will continue the effective work we have done with the team and continue to work with the team through Mission 44.
