Los Angeles Chargers rookie Ladd McConkey explains what his new number means to him.
As NFL rookies transition from college to the pros, there are many significant changes in the number of players drafted. One of the most noticeable changes to the public occurs when a freshman is assigned a different number than he was in college.
Ladd McConkey is one of several rookies who will wear a new number for an NFL team this season. While with the Georgia Bulldogs, the wide receiver wore No. 84. However, this season McConkey took the field wearing No. 15. But this isn’t the first time the Chargers rookie has worn the number.
When I grow up, this is my phone number.“ McConkie said. “I took it all through my childhood, middle school and high school. Then I went to Georgia and got number 84. I told manager Harbaugh that number 84 wasn’t my pick, but it looked like I did. “Now I want to go back to being 15.
Whether McConkey wears No. 84 or No. 15 this season, the expectations for the receiver’s rookie season have not changed.
