Kano governor fires commissioner who threatened judge

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has sacked the Commissioner for Lands, Adamu Aliyu, for threatening judges of the governor’s court.

On Friday, the commissioner, speaking in Hausa while addressing the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP,  threatened judges in the state to choose between their money or their lives over allegations that  judges The judge was bribed.

“For any judge who accepts bribes and makes unfair judgments, we want to tell him that he must choose between bribery and his life.

“You have seen the (bandits) conflict  in Zamfara, Kaduna and Katsina, I swear because of this governorship, people will die. The conflict that erupts in Kano will be more dangerous than the conflict in these states and Borno.

Furthermore, the governor dismissed his special adviser on youth, Yusuf Imam, after he made a statement  against Vice President Kashim Shettima.  Reacting to this in a statement issued to journalists at Government House on Friday, the State Commissioner for Information, Baba Dantiye, said that Governor Yusuf respects and appreciates the judiciary  and will does not tolerate any disrespect from his perspective.

While calling the statements thoughtless comments, Dantiye said:
“For these reasons, the Governor of Kano State has dismissed the Commissioner for Land Use and  Planning, Adamu A. Kibiya, and the Special Adviser on Youth and Sports, Yusuf Imam, from their appointments with immediate effect instantly. »

The statement raises serious concerns in the state’s political landscape about the impartiality and safety of  judges overseeing  election disputes.
