West Ham United have issued a statement confirming Michail Antonio has been involved in a road traffic accident on Saturday.
The Hammers striker, 34, would not have been playing until Monday when his side take on Wolves in a crucial six-pointer for Julen Lopetegui and Gary O’Neil.
Antonio trained with the rest of the squad on Friday, December 6 – just 24 hours before the accident took place – ahead of their Premier League fixture.
But their preparations have been rocked with Antonio involved in a car crash, which reportedly took place in Essex.

The east London club released a statement on Saturday to confirm that Antonio was involved in a car crash, although they did not provide an update on his condition.
A statement read: “West Ham United can confirm striker Michail Antonio has today been involved in a road traffic accident.
“The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the club are with Michail, his family and friends at this time. The club will issue an update in due course.”
