Jaylen Brown Becomes First Boston Celtics Player to Duplicate Stunning Feat Last Done by 1984 Larry Bird.

Jaylen Brown has come up big time for the Boston Celtics in the 2024 NBA Playoffs

But his excellence in this postseason isn’t just isolated in this matchup versus the Mavericks. He has been doing incredibly well overall in the playoffs. In fact, he just pulled off a feat last accomplished by Boston legend Larry Bird back in the early part of the 1980s.

Jaylen Brown is just the 2nd Celtic to shoot at least 50% and score at least 20 points in 7 straight playoff games. The other: Larry Bird in 1984,” wrote Dick Lipe of NBC Sports on X (formerly Twitter).

That stretch dates back to the start of the Eastern Conference finals featuring the Celtics and the Indiana Pacers. Over that span, the former California Golden Bears star averaged 27.4 points on 52.9 percent shooting from the floor, while also racking up 5.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists. As deep and talented as the Celtics are, it is clear that they wouldn’t be just a win away from winning the 2024 NBA Finals if not for the outstanding play of Brown.

Brown and the Celtics aren’t thinking about matching any statistics their predecessors had set before them. But one thing they are seriously looking to replicate from 1984 is an NBA title to conclude their journey in the playoffs. Back then, Bird and the Celtics defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games in that year’s edition of the N

BA Finals
