Anthony Richardson Season Highlights
It may have been an abbreviated season for Indianapolis Colts rookie Anthony Richardson, but he showed dynamic potential.
The Indianapolis Colts got off the quarterback merry-go-round in the 2023 NFL Draft by selecting Anthony Richardson with the No. 4 overall pick.
The book on Richardson at the time was he needed just that… time. He had less than 400 passing attempts at Florida and was a one-season starter.
Compared to someone like Oregon quarterback Bo Nix, considered by many to be a first-rounder this year, Richardson is two-years younger and started nearly 50-less games.
Richardson took the Colts by storm once he was drafted, and by August it was clear he would start the season as the No. 1 quarterback.

The problem Richardson faced early was staying on the field. A bruised knee, a concussion, and finally a shoulder injury sidelined him after just-four games.
In those four games, Richardson flashed the athleticism that earned him the right to be called one of the most athletic quarterback prospects of all time. However, he also showed he was better than expected in the passing game.
It may have been a short season for Richardson, but the Indianapolis Colts still spliced together a nine-minute highlight reel for the 21-year old quarterback.
Richardson is expected to make a full recovery in the offseason. It’s also logical to assume he will step back into the No. 1 quarterback spot for the Colts.
Where that leaves Gardner Minshew becomes the next question. Minshew went 7-6 as the Colts starter and saved the season once Richardson went down. He earned hefty performance bonuses based on his play, but he’s a free agent in March.
Minshew revived his career under head coach Shane Steichen, and he’s earned the right to be a starter somewhere in the quarterback-starved NFL.
However, if Richardson stays healthy, he’s the future of the Indianapolis Colts. Based on his highlights in his shortened-rookie season, the future is bright.
