Max Verstappen will become world champion for the first time in 2021 after a crazy finish. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner continues to respect Lewis Hamilton’s controversial response.
The battle between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton in 2021 was hotly contested. Mercedes and Red Bull didn’t give each other an inch on or off the track, with Verstappen and Hamilton level on points ahead of the final race in Abu Dhabi.
The results, of course, are well known. Hamilton was heading for his eighth world championship until Nicholas Latifi crashed in the closing stages, resulting in a Moa Safer. Race director Michael Masi decided to create a unique gap between Hamilton and Verstappen by removing the cars and the gaps between them.
Verstappen, unlike Hamilton, stopped for the move and overtook his rival in turn four. He held the lead for the rest of the race and won his first F1 title.
According to Red Bull team boss Christian Horner, Verstappen has already arrived at Hamilton in 2021.
“The season from the first race in Bahrain to the last in Abu Dhabi is a heavyweight race. Horner shared his secret to success on the podcast.
And two drivers and two teams reached an unprecedented level. It was a great achievement for us to go into the final race tied with Mercedes and Lewis. I got the whole team together before the game and talked to all of them and said, guys, whatever we do today, we’ve had an amazing journey to get to where we are today. So what’s going on today? It happens, but the most important thing is to get out, be active and have fun.
me”Embrace the fear because you and everyone else will be shocked. Pit stops have become more important than ever. But through hard work and dedication, not just today, the 21 races before we got to this position. all what you did So go out and do it all.me
Horner praises Hamilton
Horner admits things have changed over the course of the competition. Things don’t seem to be going well.
But we compromised both positions and strategies and chose an offensive path rather than a defensive one. Because there is nothing to lose and everything to gain.
In the end, Verstappen let go of a frustrated Hamilton on the last lap to take the title. Horner was very impressed with the Briton’s attitude when he came out to congratulate him after the game.
“I heard how Lewis handled that depression after the race and I have to take my hat off to him because he was very upset. Horner said.
The world championships were almost over, but he handled them with dignity and respect. And when I shook his hand in the driver’s seat after the race, he told me I did a good job.
Horner believes Mercedes should have taken Hamilton seriously during the Safety Car, given how many laps he did on that set of tyres.
“A lot happened in the last race, but Mercedes was in the race and faster than us in the Grand Prix. Horner said.
Lewis was able to handle the situation with Max comfortably. But they were very defensive and very aggressive, leaving Lewis with a set of tires with 43 laps to go.
“So I was in a safe car to be seen. I think they saw the situation in the defensive position..
