Grayson Murray cause of death revealed after golfer’s suicide confirmed by parents
Grayson Murray’s cause of death has been confirmed after the golfer took his own life, with his parents paying tribute this past weekend, saying he was “loved and will be missed”
The Daily Mail has reported that police were called to his Florida house at around 10:30am on Saturday morning, where he had lived with his fiancee. He was found less than 24 hours after withdrawing from the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas. Murray told his playing partners he was feeling unwell after 16 holes of Friday’s second round, before walking off of the course.
The 30-year-old had openly discussed his struggles with alcohol and his mental health over the years. Last year, he regained his place on the PGA Tour and sought sobriety .
His family released a statement over the weekend, being heartbroken after they had been made aware of their son’s passing.
“We have spent the last 24 hours trying to come to terms with the fact that our son is gone,” Murray’s parents said. “It’s surreal that we not only have to admit it to ourselves, but that we also have to acknowledge it to the world. It’s a nightmare.”
“We have so many questions that have no answers. But one. Was Grayson loved? The answer is yes. By us, his brother Cameron, his sister Erica, all of his extended family, by his friends, by his fellow players and – it seems – by many of you who are reading this. He was loved and he will be missed.

“We would like to thank the PGA TOUR and the entire world of golf for the outpouring of support. Life wasn’t always easy for Grayson, and although he took his own life, we know he rests peacefully now.
“Please respect our privacy as we work through this incredible tragedy, and please honor Grayson by being kind to one another. If that becomes his legacy, we could ask for nothing else. Thank you.”
The weekend’s golf action saw heart-wrenching scenes as Murray’s peers came to terms with the news of his passing. CBS commentators Jim Nantz and Trevor Immelman fought back tears as they informed viewers during the TV broadcast.
His caddie, Jay Green, said: “Grayson was the absolute best. Not only was he an incredible, thoughtful and generous boss, he was an even better friend,” Green said in a text message via GolfChannel. “He truly would do anything for anyone. He has the best family, and my heart goes out to them. We will all miss him deeply.”
