Golf superstar Rory McIlroy makes shock announcement: “Who knows where it could go?”

Rory McIlroy will star in a new documentary, charting the ‘ups and downs’ of forming his TGL side, according to a report.

Rory McIlroy will star in a new documentary that charts the ‘ups and downs’ of forming his TGL side Boston Common Golf.

The news was confirmed after a teaser trailer for the doc was uploaded to X on 30 September.

The documentary series will feature five separate episodes that explore the formation of his TGL side.

Boston Common Golf comprises of 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley and former Masters champions Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama.

England’s Tyrrell Hatton was expected to be part of McIlroy’s team but he was booted out after he joined LIV Golf.

Jon Rahm previously committed to TGL, but pulled out shortly before he joined the breakaway last December.

TGL will air for the first time on ESPN next January.

The concept was masterminded by Woods and McIlroy.

Essentially, TGL will combine advanced technology with teams of top players from the PGA Tour.

Six TGL teams representing six different cities will go head-to-head in two-hour weekly competitions in a season-long race.

Golfers will hit into a giant simulator in front of a live studio audience at a first-of-its-kind, state of the art facility in Florida.

You can watch the video for the new documentary series below.

McIlroy narrates: “I love the game of golf.

“And now, I want it to grow, become more accessible and help bring it into the future.

“So, I decided to go all in and join in launching a new team golf league called TGL.

“Sounds pretty straight forward, right?

So, over the last couple of years we invited a documentary crew to follow me and the entire team as we created from scratch a new TGL team for the wildly passionate sports fans of Boston.

“This is all the ups, the downs,

and up again of that journey.”
