Latest Tiger Woods rumour sparks frenzy among golf fans
A number of golf fans appear convinced PGA Tour legend Tiger Woods will play in the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village.
The hall of famer spoke of his desire to play at least once a month at the end of 2023 after a successful subtalar fusion surgery on his gammy right ankle.
His critics have suggested that his desires are more than a tad ambitious.
Indeed, his performances at the 2024 Masters and PGA Championship have seen some golf fans, analysts and pundits suggest Woods is finished and will never contend for a major championship ever again.
Woods has refused to throw in the towel and after missing the cut at Valhalla earlier in the month contended that he can win again but the only thing missing is competitive reps.
In other words, the 15-time major champion needs to play regular Tour events in order to get himself in the best possible shape for the remaining majors.
Woods needed a special invitation by the USGA to get into next month’s U.S. Open at famed Pinehurst No.2.
That will be played 13-16 June.
There are a couple of events Woods could play in between then and now.
And it appears that Woods has decided to play the Memorial at Muirfield Village.
And its fair to say some golf fans have lost their minds.
The field for the 2024 Memorial will be confirmed on 26 May.
Woods last won the Memorial in 2012.
He also won the PGA Tour event in 2009, 2001, 2000 and 1999.
