Gilbert Arenas claims that LeBron left Miami because Pat Riley took his cookies off the team plane: “I don’t give a fu** whose cookies they are”
LeBron James left the Miami Heat in 2014 to fulfill a promise he made to his hometown, win the Cavaliers’ first NBA championship. While he made good on that promise, former Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas claims that it wasn’t the real reason why LeBron left South Beach.
According to Arenas, there was an episode in Miami where James and Heat President Pat Riley collided over; get ready for this one, chocolate chip cookies on the team plane. Gil says LeBron used to have a jar or so of cookies on the team plane, but one time, Riley just decided that he wanted the whole team to go on a diet and took all the junk food, including the cookies, off the plane,
When LeBron found out, that was the trigger, claimed Gil.
“Bron comes on and ‘Hey stewardess, can I get the chocolate chip cookies'”, said Arenas. “And they was like, ‘Oh yeah, we don’t have cookies anymore on the plane’. He’s like ‘No, they’re over there’. ‘Pat Riley had everything thrown off’. ‘Did he know those were my cookies?’ ‘Yeah, he kinda actually said, I don’t care whose cookies they are’. Everybody’s looking, trying to keep their head down ’cause they don’t want to make eye contact. And right there, oh this is personal'”
