Sentell sat down with 5-star OT David Sanders Jr. on Providence Day in Charlotte to make the announcement. He is the No. 1 OT prospect in the nation and the No. 2 2025 prospect by the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Rankings.
Georgia went to see five-star OT David Sanders Jr. last week before the NCAA recruiting holiday.
The schedule now excluded field trips and face-to-face contact. Episode
starts today and ends on March 4th.
UGA officials sent the Ats to Charlotte to talk to Sanders before the deadline. They made sure to leave the red and black in a strong state one last time for Sanders to be with his family before seeing other teachers and schools again.
What was the loud and clear message from coach Kirby Smart and line coach Stacy Searels that day?
“You are our priority for the class of 2025,” Sanders told DawgNation.
It means something.
“I was surprised,” Sanders said. “Knowing what Georgia has done, I was honored with the highest award. I’m really excited to be back and be with the team.
There’s still a sense that Georgia really wants Sanders to join the campaign. This becomes clear when you consider how UGA always caters to the whole family when they visit.
The Bulldogs gave him, his parents and his three siblings a front-row seat in the West End section of the bleachers on a game-day trip last fall.
He remembered meeting ‘dogs’ at school last week.
“It’s wonderful to have UCA on campus,” he said. “Obviously, I think highly of Coach Smart and his program. I’ve enjoyed the experience and want this relationship to continue to grow.
Sanders didn’t travel much during the previous open season. He attended Clemson for the big conference in January. The Tigers are always a strong contender for this admission, along with other options such as Alabama, Ohio State and Tennessee
At this point, I think I will focus on my studies and recovery from shoulder surgery. A 5 star OT who spent his third year needing labrum surgery.
The 6-foot-6, 270-pound senior waited until his Chargers won their third state title in that division before making the stunt. It hurts, but he’s that type of player. He wanted to be there for his team.
“My shoulder feels great,” he told DawgNation last Friday. “I also started doing physical exercises, like physical exercises.“
