The Boston Red Sox community says goodbye to former manager Larry Luchino.
Luchino died last week at the age of 78.
Luchino’s funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. in St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church in Boston.
Services will be private and not open to the public.
Lucchino served as the group’s president and CEO for 14 years, from 2002 to 2015. This time, the Red Sox won the championship. Three World Series.
He helped build the team led by John Henry and Tom Werner who bought the team in 2001. Most recently he was president and CEO of the Worcester Red Sox.
He also served as president of the Jimmys. background , the charitable arm of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He was a three-time cancer survivor.
Lucchino is survived by his brother, Frank J. Lucchino, nephew F.J. Lucchino, niece Jennifer Lucchino of Pittsburgh, Pa.and a nephew, David L. Lucchino of Boston.
He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews.
