Former Houston Astros prospect Ronny Garcia tragically passed away in a traffic accident in Samana, Dominican Republic, at the age of 24.
MLB Insider Hector Gomez reported that Garcia was accompanied by his father, who also lost his life in the accident on Saturday.
Another individual reportedly perished in the incident involving two motorcycles on the Las Galeras-Samaná highway, as detailed by El Tiempo.
“The Astros are deeply saddened by the loss of former prospect Ronny Garcia. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends,” expressed the Astros on Saturday morning.

Garcia spent seven years in the Astros’ minor league system, from 2017 to 2023, amassing a 9-15 record in his appearances.
Initially playing for the Dominican Summer League teams, the relief pitcher transitioned to the United States in 2021, achieving a remarkable 2.11 ERA that year across both the Florida Complex League and Class-A Fayetteville.
