Earlier in the season, former Florida State quarterback Chubba Purdy announced he would transfer from Nebraska to San Jose State after receiving his second postseason berth with the Cornhuskers. Now the signal caller is in, but at a different university. Purdy announced his transfer to the University of Nevada on Twitter on Monday.
There are so many moving parts to the NCAA transfer portal that it can be difficult for some players to find a place to call home. It’s not uncommon for players to reach multiple positionsduring their college career before moving on to the next level.
Purdy committed to Annnolls in December 2019 after turning in a commitment from the Louisville Cardinals. He played two seasons in Tallahassee before deciding to leave. While at FSU, he threw for 317 yards and four touchdowns, second only to Jordan Travis.
Purdy, originally from Arizona, moved closer to his home on the West Coast and joined his brother Brock Purdy, who plays for the San Fransico 49ers. The 49ers will face the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship this year.
In 2023, he completed 31 of 57 passes at Nebraska for 382 yards with two touchdowns andthree interceptions. He also had another 180 yards on the ground and scored.
This is the second transfer to West Florida State after AJ Duffy and transferred to San Diego State after 2023.
