Florida State To Be Without At Least 14 Players In Orange Bowl Due To Opt-Outs And the Transfers

The Seminoles looked a little different in the Orange Bowl against Georgia.

   Florida State Seminoles It’s less than a week until No. 5 Florida State takes on No. 6 Georgia in the Orange Bowl. The Seminoles, who won their first 13 games on the schedule and won their first ACC Championship in nine years, will have a different schedule when they take on the Bulldogs.

   After the initial rejection, Florida State decided to leave more than 16% of its roster out of the game for various reasons. The College Football Playoff selection committee’s decision significantly reduced the Noles at several positions, and young players were asked to step up on both sides of the ball.

   Across the entire roster, there are more than 14 players who won but were not ranked, and that number could rise to 20 or more depending on how the next few days go. It looks like Jordan Travis is out for the rest of the season with a foot injury.

   Additionally, running back Trey Benson, wide receiver Johnny Wilson, wide receiver Keon Coleman, tight end Jaheim Bell, tight end Jared Verse and defensive end Fabien Lovett all played in preparation for the 2024 NFL Draft.

   Seven Seminoles earned ACC accolades for their performances throughout the season.

Benson
(906 yards, 14 touchdowns) led the team in rushing, Coleman (658 yards, 11 touchdowns) led the ACC in receiving touchdowns and Verse (41 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks) led the team in sacks. Wilson (617 yards, 2 TDs), Bell (503 yards, 2 TDs) and Lovett (22 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 1 sack) are big parts of the team and its success.

   Seven other members of the roster entered the NCAA transfer portal and committed to other programs. QB AJ Duffy (San Diego State), running back Rodney Hill (FAMU), running back CJ Campbell (FAU), tight end Markston Douglas (Arizona State), tackle Bless Harris (TCU), tackle Daughtry Richardson (FAU), Qae and Shon Sapp (FAMU) both found a new home. Duffy, Hill, Campbell, Douglas and Harris were all at Florida State, which recently went deep in the championship game against Louisville.

   Two more scholarship players are in doubt as Malcolm Ray is Malcolm Ray, DJ Lundy, Thomas Scrader, Thomas Scrader, Ayobami Tifase, Dylan-Brown Turner are in the entry.
