F1 racers sign design legend after shock departure

One of Formula 1’s most influential figures has joined a new team in a major blow for his former employers.

Enrico Cardile spent almost two decades at the iconic Italian outfit and helped Kimi Raikkonen to his solitary F1 title.

Cardile has also worked with some of the legends of the sport, including world champion drivers Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso.

His departure comes shortly after Ferrari’s disappointing performance at the British GP, as their driver duo of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc once again struggled to secure top spot.

Cardile’s departure has been rumored for some time, with one rival team emerging as the favorite to secure his signature.

Now Aston Martin has announced that the 49-year-old will join them in 2025 as technical director. The British team have also been heavily linked with a move for Red Bull design boss Adrian Newey and talks are believed to be underway over a potential deal.

As the British outfit battle it out on the road in 2024, they are putting the building blocks in place to secure a better position next season. . Cardile told the team’s official website: “I am looking forward to joining Aston Martin Aramco.
