Pre-season testing has come and gone, and there is now only a week remaining before the 2024 F1 season kicks off at the Bahrain International Circuit. Max Verstappen is in a strong position to make it four Drivers’ Championships in a row after a solid showing in practice while getting to grips with his new RB20.
Ferrari stars Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are also in a healthy position if their pre-season lap times are anything to go by, while Mercedes have ground to make up as they head into Lewis Hamilton‘s final season with the team.
Rumbling on in the background is the investigation into Red Bull boss Christian Horner, which could be resolved before lights out in Bahrain on Saturday.
Verstappen sends Horner message to Red Bull
Max Verstappen has subtly urged Red Bull to wrap up their investigation into Christian Horner as quickly as possible.
The Dutchman is gunning down a fourth consecutive F1 world title, but allegations of inappropriate behaviour against his team principal are garnering plenty of attention.
“It’s better that I just focus on my own performance because that’s already the day job,” said Verstappen.
“But I guess, of course, for everyone, it’s nice, of course, when things are resolved. But that’s the only thing that I can say about that.”
