Colorado Coaching Staff
Warren Sapp put together a Hall of Fame career in the NFL, with most of his impact coming as a game-wrecking defensive tackle for the Bucs. While he hung up his cleats long ago, the Bucs Ring of Honor legend is coming back to football to pass his knowledge down to the ne

It was announced on Monday that Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders would be adding Warren Sapp to the coaching staff as a graduate assistant. In introducing himself before the team in a meeting, Sapp discussed more of what his role would be in Boulder, Colorado.
“Senior quality control analyst, it’s a mouthful, and you’ll hear me before you see me most of the time,” Sapp said. “But what we are going to do is, big fellas — stance, alignment and assignment, that’s where we’re going to start. We’re going to pour concrete because you know I like nice stuff. And we’re building mansions here, so that’s why I’m here — to help you build your mansion.”
Although this will be Sapp’s first official coaching role, it is not the first time that he has been helping young players build their mansions. In 2022, he briefly helped the Washington Commanders’ defensive line during minicamp, and he’s helped the Bucs before on several occasions. Additionally, he attended the 2023 Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, looking on and offering advice to many of the young defensive linemen who were there during practice.
After a 4-8 season in his first year as head coach of the Buffaloes, Sanders has a lot of work to do to continue putting the program back on the map. Led by Deion’s son and star quarterback Shedeur Sanders, as well as the talented wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter, the team has a lot of firepower to hang around with bigger teams.

Still, it is also a group largely filled with transfer players who have only joined since “Prime Time” was hired and have not spent a lot of time gelling together.
Sapp will help be a part of building a cohesive team that has some work to do defensively after allowing 34.8 points per game last season. Not only that, but will be going from the now-defunct PAC-12 to the Big XII for the 2024-2025 season. It will be a jump in competition level, and they will need all the help they can get.
It is a new chapter for the 51-year-old Warren Sapp, but if he approaches each day like he did suiting up on Sundays in red and pewter, the Colorado Buffaloes will have a new fiery coach within their ranks that is ready to make an impact with the defensive line and the team in
